2013 / 14
On April 25, 2013 Live Art Dance quietly unveiled a new line-up as we opened the curtain on the final show of our 30th season. With a line-up that includes seven shows (5 in the Sir James Dunn Theatre and 2 in the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium), we are once again offering a fresh, moving sampling of contemporary dance from across the country. Rich, bold, provocative, virtuosic, in-your-face, contemplative, high energy, and fun… Were picking up right where we left off and hope you’ll come along for the ride!
Check out our 2013/14 calendar for a complete list of activities.
A BRIEF HISTORY -
In 1982, Diane Moore had a vision to create a beacon around which contemporary dance arts could flourish in Atlantic Canada. Her passion and inspiration lead to the creation of Live Art Dance Productions, the most important organisation dedicated to the presentation and cultivation of contemporary dance east of Montreal. Both a springboard from which tomorrow’s stars launch their careers and a platform for national & international artists, Live Art Dance satisfies a public thirst for passionate movement that speaks to heart and mind.
In 2003 we lost Diane, but not her dream! Sustaining it has involved a renewed commitment of passion, inspiration, and vision – and the investment is paying off. In the past five years, Live Art’s annual programming has almost doubled and we’ve experienced unprecedented audience growth. Our position as one of the most progressive arts organizations in Eastern Canada is firmly established and we continue to fulfill a unique role in enriching Nova Scotia’s rich cultural landscape.
